History of Komfi

The few milestones mentioned here will guide you through our past and current presence.

1992

  • Komfi is established as a limited liability company (s.r.o) in Lanškroun, Czech Republic, and it originally focused on consulting upon and the design of special-purpose machines.

1995

  • Premises in Svébohov near Zábřeh na Moravě, Czech Republic, are set up in a facility formerly belonging to the local agricultural coop, and they grow into a full-blown high quality machine-building workshop after many reconstructions.
  • The company changes its headquarters and moves to rented premises within the environs of Tesla Lanškroun; the Svébohov facility remains the base for manufacturing and assembling machines.
  • The first automatic packaging machine, BKD-01, is developed for automatic shaping, measuring, and packaging of electro-components.
  • The first prototype of the Orbit laminator is developed.

1996

  • The company’s organization is rearranged into two divisions – the Lanškroun headquarters division and the Svébohov production facility division.

1997

  • The design and production division is established in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic.
  • Construction commences on the Nové Město na Moravě production facility premises.
  • The mass production of packaging machines starts.

1998

  • Increasing interest in the company’s production leads to a threefold expansion of the Svébohov production facility division.
  • The mass production of laminating machines starts.
  • The first 10 Orbit machines are sold.
  • The first Delta laminator prototype is developed to become the successor of the Orbit machine and the best-selling model from Komfi.

2000

  • ◦The company’s headquarters move to newly reconstructed premises in the Lanškroun industrial area (very close to AVX Lanškroun, our largest business partner).
  • The Omega laminator machine prototype for the B1 format of sheets processed is developed.

2001

  • Komfi places third in the “Partnership for Supporting Direct Investments in the Czech Republic” organized by the CzechInvest agency, and receives the prestigious “Supplier of the Year” award. 

2002

  • The Komfi Litomyšl subsidiary is established (in the former Kovopol plant).
  • 1st February 2002, the company is certified with the ISO 9001:2000 international standard.

2003

  • Construction and equipping of the Nové Město na Moravě production facility premises are completed.

2004

  • The Komfi Slovakia, s.r.o. subsidiary is established in Martin with the focus on direct support to Komfi machine sales in Slovakia.

2005

  • The first Sirius laminator for processing sheet formats up to B0, the first in the Komfi portfolio, is manufactured.
  • 23rd September 2005, the company is certified with the ISO 14001:2005 international standard.

2006

  • The company’s new information system, with high-speed internet connection allowing flexible communication with external suppliers and among the company’s branches is implemented.

2007

  • The distributor network for Komfi laminating machines is expanded especially to the Near East, Australia and certain Asian countries.
  • Komfi, s.r.o. and its Komfi Litomyšl subsidiary are consolidated and they now act under the common name of Komfi, s.r.o.; they keep their original production programmes.

2008

  • Construction of additional assembly hall in our seat in Lanškroun was started in September, the total working area of the current building was doubled.

2009

  • The daughter company Komfi Europe was established in Holland, which from 1 January 2009 ensures marketing, sales and service of Komfi laminating machines in west-european countries.
